A tavern and a rainy day. The perfect setting to start an epic adventure, at least according to romantics. For most of the patrons, however, it was just another day - few even cared when the door creaked open. After all, hooded strangers soaked with half a bucket of rainwater would have been standard fare in Hyo Shin. The newcomer, however, was as far as you could get to that description, but no less familiar.
"Good Afternoon!" Chirped a cheerful voice that hardly fit the crude atmosphere of the tavern. Several regulars turned toward the newcomer and responded with curt familiarity. Marigold smiled widely, noting that the rain must have forced folk to stay indoors. The cleric may have seemed out of place, her vibrant robes in stark contrast with the dim lights of the establishment, but few truly bothered to note her presence. At this point, she was just another oddity in a town full of them. The acolyte of Norn gave the staff a quick gesture and walked to an empty table in one of the better lit corners of the bar.
Marigold left a trail damp footprints behind her, but her clothes were pristine, as her loyal guardian had no problems with being treated as a glorified umbrella. Taking a seat on an empty table for four, she silently established her own little kingdom of cheer within the alcohol soaked gloom. Shortly after she settled down, one of the servers approached with a slice of pie. "Ah, thanks!" Her eyes sparkled like amethysts at the sight of baked perfection. "I don't know how he does it, but it reminds me of home."
With the essential supplies procured, her preparations were complete. Smiling contently, Marigold closed her eyes and tuned in to the music of life. Her over-sized blade was resting on the wall beside her, though Thirteen hovered within inches of the handle - seemingly intent on making those who would think its master vulnerable think twice. Of course, the serene expression that the cleric wore was inviting those who wished to talk.

In the past, Natasha had honestly preferred to avoid the hustle and bustle of the tavern, particularly in the midst of the daytime – but, over the days, she’d come to appreciate the homely feel of the place… well, compared to the atmosphere of the inn, it certainly felt a lot more comfortable to eat out at the other building. And, well, in the midst of this rain, it was only wise for a lady to seek shelter; it’d be unsightly for her to behave otherwise. An excuse and an occasion… now, all she needed was company, and she’d have a nice day out. Well, a nice day in. Though initially clad in her heavier travelling clothes; Natasha soon shed her extra layers to reveal her usual blouse and skirt – a sight for sore eyes, if she might say so herself! Actually, she probably couldn’t, all things considered… Regardless, while considering just haunting about with a drink until the rain eased off a little bit and she warmed up, a particular scent made her eyes sparkle – the blonde looked quite picturesque as she clearly sniffed at the air… a person of good taste and good manners, it seemed! Hardly anyone bothered with the tavern’s pies, but they made Natasha’s heart soar. Perhaps it was a bit childish, but that sort of simple comfort rubbed the witch just the right way. And, well… she could never argue with food in the first place! And they gave such generous portions for the price if you ordered a whole pie! Or, was that just for her? Ufufu… well, time for some research, then! Following her nose, the lady slipped through the crowd with a slow but steady pace; gently slithered amongst people despite her height and sight – though, most average folk would know better than to stand in the way of anyone with a staff to begin with. Thankfully, Natasha know the tavern well enough not to go blundering straight into Marigold’s table, but it wouldn’t take much effort to notice the amount of attention and caution she was putting into her movements all the same… she wasn’t quite used to the place yet, and with so much extra noise around it made it all the more difficult. At least she could always rely on her nose! But, once she was sure she was beside the table, her expression softened to her usual smile; and she relaxed back into her ladylike disposition. Short, scent of… very faint, perfume? Maybe? Earlier voice was female, young… no words from server, so probably an odd customer… so, in that case… ”Ah, please excuse my curiosity, but I don’t think I’ve heard you here before? You sound a girl of good standing, and do loathe to eat alone… would you mind my company? I’d deeply appreciate it if you could at least humour a lady until the bad weather passes.” While perhaps not the most silver-tongued soul, Natasha’s gentle tone could at least be called unthreatening – which given her stature was probably about the best she could do off the cuff. ”I don’t notice many others whom appreciate the fine pastries they do here, so I guess I saw a bit of a kindred spirit in you. I must admit, I’m definitely not above a bit of… indulgence, now and then~”

Despite the fortress the city was built around, Hyo Shin was not exactly the ideal place to raise children. So far from civilization, after all, life was far from comfortable and the future was far from certain, but there was certainly a profit. It offered a lifestyle that would attract risk-takers, thrill-seekers and folk who were generally not adverse to a little violence. Mercenaries. Adventurers. Heroes. Exiles. Soldiers. Spies. These were the kinds of folk that thrived in frontier towns and that suited Marigold just fine. After all, there must have been a story behind every scar and certainly eyes don't get patched without an exciting tale - or so she assumed. However, sometimes it was the most unassuming individuals who had the most exciting tales. When a gentle voice distracted her from the music of life, something told the girl that this was one of those times.
Opening her eyes, Marigold was somewhat surprised by what she saw. The tall blonde beauty who approached the young priestess certainly did not look like someone who would have business in the city, but then again, to most people, neither did Marigold. Noting the gentle smile on the stranger, Marigold returned the gesture with a beaming smile of her own. Such bright expressions were almost out of place in a crowded tavern on a rainy day, and certainly made their similarities all the more striking. The younger girl had to admit that it felt like looking into a mirror... a taller and more mature mirror. "Oh, please take a seat." Replied Marigold with a voice full of cheer, ignoring the hint of jealousy that she felt. "I did not expect company, but I certainly welcome it! There is plenty of space after all, particularly for someone who appreciates good pie!"
It was really good pie, but indulgence was the right word for it - just a bit shy of being far too sweet. In other words, it was just right for a priestess with a sweet tooth. Aside from a shared interests in baked goods, Marigold was curious about the woman. There was something about the tall stranger that seemed odd; the cleric did not yet quite notice that her new companion was blind. Not that the knowledge would have changed anything. This newcomer wanted to talk, and that was all that really mattered. "Shall I order you a slice as well?" Mari asked her companion idly, though she gestured for another slice without waiting for an answer. A nearby server acknowledged her order with a loud cry to the kitchen - perhaps a sign of how often she 'indulges'. "Now! I admit, I'm a bit curious as well. While I haven't been in Hyo Shin for that long, Norn knows I've spent much of that time around here. That being said, we've never met, as I'm certain I would recall meeting someone like yourself. That is to say, do you come here often?"
