Equipment
In Eternal Magica we also like to allow everyone to have the freedom of customizing their characters. After you are done choosing your character's Role and Class it's time to pick their equipment. A character's gear is divided in three categories, Armors Weapons and Accessories which you need to add to the character's application. Miscellaneous items (like torches, lockpicks, ropes, etc.) should be mentioned but they aren't required and though there maybe some special items (like potions, rare poisons, magical rings) they require purchases from the shop or being a loot drop from a quest. Characters start with 1 set of armor and can have up to 2 weapons, in E quality tier.
Tiers
The gear of adventurers is divided into tiers, they represent the quality, durability, efficiency and power an item can have. And in general for armors it means increased protection while for weapons increased damage. All characters starting equipment is ranked at E and as a rule magical items are B rank. Characters do not start with any magical items. The general description of each tier and how to get them is the following:Tier | Description | How to get |
S | Legendary items that can hold many enchanments | Event Quests Only |
A | Rare items with strong magical enchanments or additions | Special quests have a chance to drop from either a set of armor or weapon |
B | Mastercraft level of quality and work, may have permanent magical enchantments | Drop from B or higher rank quests |
C | Expertly crafted with good quality materials | Vendor in the city |
D | Well made but not expertly crafted due to the materials quality | Vendor in the city |
E | Basic quality crafted items of standard quality | Starting set of armor and weapons |
Upgrading Equipment
If the class and role of a character is the bread, then the butter is naturally the kind of equipment they use. As your character adventures further into the unknown they will face greater dangers. Using the money they accumulate characters can upgrade their equipment to better fight more powerful opponents. For this and using the shop (here) characters can purchase upgrades for their equipment.
- You can only upgrade from one Tier below from the Tier you desire to reach. i.e: Upgrading armor from Tier E to Tier D.
- You cannot upgrade to the next Tier unless you own the set of the Tier below. i.e: Wanting to upgrade from Tier D to Tier C but still in the process of upgrading from Tier E to Tier D. This rule only applies to Tier C equipment and above. Accessories do not count toward having a full set.
- If you are upgrading to an equipment that possesses a certain effect and your previous equipment has a different effect then after the upgrade you will have to choose which effect to keep. If both sets of equipment have the same effect then the stronger one will remain.
- You have to pay a fee every time you wish to upgrade. You can find the price with the shop vendor in the town.
Armor
Armor on Eternal Magica represents the protective gear of your character and the equipment they use to protect themselves when adventuring. We have sorted armors into 3 types that offer different degrees of protection vs mobility to suit your class preferences. Additionally armors are grouped as an entire set. There are also 2 slots for accessories which is where you would put special and powerful items (rings, necklaces, capes). A newly made character starts with a whole set save the accessory slots which is unlocked at Tier B. The set has to be of one type only, so starting with a mix armor is not allowed. As you adventure and save up money, you can buy and replace your set type to another one of the same rank or simply save the required money to upgrade it.
Armor Type | Benefits / Detriments |
Heavy Armor | Superior defense / decreases mobility and speed |
Medium Armor | Light defense / Small penalties to mobility and Speed |
Light Armor | No mobility or speed penalties / minimum defense |
- See the Items for more information on Accessories.
Weapons
If armors represent the attire and protection of characters, then weapons are simply the tools they wield to fight or help them fight. In Eternal Magica we categorized weapons into two groups, regardless of their nature. We have Melee and Range. As their names indicate one is for weapons that are used in close range while the others are used at long range. Characters can start with up to two weapons. So characters can choose to have a spare weapon, dual wield or have a side arm.
Type | Description |
Melee Weapons | Weapons used in close fighting, most weapons will be of this category. Swords, Spears, Daggers, Staffs are some examples. Thrown weapons like javelins, throwing knives, chakrams, shurikens also belong to this group. |
Range Weapons | Weapons that require munition and are used to fight from afar. Bows, Crossbows, slingshots are the best examples. There are no fire-powder weapons. |
Notes:
- Magic users to cast their magic require a weapon that allows them, in most cases these are tomes, staves, wands or orbs. These kind of tools count as a weapon, since they are used to fight.
- Shields also count as a weapon.
- There is no perfect weapon, each type has it's different strengths and weaknesses. A Zweihander will deal more damage but it's not as versatile as a regular sword, a bow will fire faster but a crossbow has better penetration. So keep in mind some weapons might have a hard time against certain enemies but will do better against others.
- Munition and special poisons count as items. Characters that start with range weapons don't need to restock their ammunition, however, special ammo needs to be bought.
Items
This category involves everything that isn't a weapon or armor. Items are either accessories, tools or consumables that characters own. These items can be purchased on the shop.
- Consumables: Are items have limited amount of uses. They can either be potions that give bonuses, rare poisons or special ammunition and traps. These can be acquired in the shop or may occasionally be drops from quests.
- Accessories: These items are of magical nature and are usually rings or amulets that possess magical attributes. These items are rare and can only be found as loot in difficult quests or in events.
- Miscellaneous: Items of this kind don't require purchase or even mentioning in the app. These items can go from being; torches, cooking pots, ropes, backpacks, lockpicks.
