Narration
As the group moved closer to the shambled hovel, they would have heard the sobbing of a youthful voice. Unfortunately someone stepped on a particular creaky piece of the rotten wooden flooring.
"Nooooo!" the youthful voice shouted, then a ghastly wind poured from the inside to the outside. The light inside went out suddenly. The air was particularly chillier than the already damp and night air of the ghost town. Phasing through one of the doors, a white ish figure emerged. It "looked" like it had been human at one point. It was a ghost...
It's features were that of a man, though looking at it from a different angle also showed it's skeletal features. The air around it was cold and it bore no expression other than suffering. The ghost was lost in torment and was clearly hostile.
Marigold & Tiber: Due to your backgrounds, training and conditions you can tell something is off with this ghost. They aren't normally aggressive and though faint you can tell the Ghost is not only tormented but being controlled. Marigold you in particular can tell that whatever is controlling the Ghost is not necromancy or dark magic.,.
The hands of the Ghost outstretched and with a silent howl it flies up into the sky only to plunge at back down, going after the closest party member...
Once the ghost was dealt with. If anyone inspected inside, they would have found a recently put out fire on a hole on the floor. There were several blankets piled up and several objects and bones littered on the floor. There were signs of someone living here, but obviously they had ran away the moment the Ghost became hostile. There was an open window leading to the back and further into town.
Encounter: 1 ghost attacks.
Bestiary: Ghosts are the remnants of living beings, usually sentient ones. Formed from dark magic or powerful emotions that cause the soul to linger, though their minds are usually destroyed beyond repair due to regrets or the torment of still lingering on. Ghosts are classed in the lesser undead group but even then can be particularly dangerous for those without magical means of defeating them, still they are rarely openly hostile unless provoked. Because they are spiritual beings and have no true form they are highly resistant to physical attacks and only magical sources can harm or interact with them and even then regular magic won't permanently destroy them. Aside from helping them move on by solving their lingering attachments, the other true source of permanently dealing with a ghost are through banishment and exorcism rituals.
Special Ability: Ghosts are incorporeal, they take 90% less damage from physical attacks and non-magical sources. Also a ghost touch zaps at the life force of the living. Their touch causing frost-burns and drain stamina, slowing down their victims.
