Clerical error. Hilarious. It had to be one of her mother's convuluted plans to get her to return home, Marigold mused as she trudged through the streets of Hyo Shin. It was obvious that the high priestess did was not a fan of the choice that her daughter made to move to the frontier, and honestly, who could have mistaken three to four. They were nothing alike. However, due to this discrepancy, the young gravekeeper was forced to find alternative housing until the temple was completed. That in itself wasn't terrible, if she wasn't forced to pay out of her own pocket. Now she realized why her father dropped a purse of silver coins into her pack. He was always one step of mother when it came to things like this.
"Don't try and defend her, Thirteen." The girl pouted, glaring at her tattered familiar without missing a step. It was obvious that she took little consolation in the quirks of her parents. Norn knows, she loved them, but sometimes there was no helping either of them. "I know, I know." She sighed in response to silent criticism. "At least it keeps things interesting. Well, one step at a time I suppose. For now, let's find this Heaven's Door before dark."
Her robes, surprisingly in pristine condition despite having travelled for the better part of a week, ensured that her little foray was eventful. Norn was not the most popular god in the empire, not by a long shot, but his faithful could always be found in places like this. Marigold in particular enjoyed the occasional petitioner asking for blessings, as each always had their own story and it always felt nice to see them leave with a smile - whether it was forced or not. So many frequent stops, however, meant that it was almost dark when she arrived at her destination. It didn't actually matter and the smile on her face made it clear that she enjoyed the journey, as much as she complained.
"Heaven's Door, huh?" She mumbled as she crossed the threshold of the building, deciding not to read any deeper into the name. A few of the folks she met earlier had rather unkind words about the establishment, but she had no intention of walking away. If anything, the rumors had fed her curiosity and the interior certainly had the charm of a storied establishment. Some of those stories were the kind that you tell naughty children. "Fun times ahead, Thirteen." She smiled, tapping the little bell on the counter likely more times than it needed to be.
"Excuuuuuuuse me!" Her pitched voice attempted to cut through the chatter of the building. The gravekeeper scanned the area with interest, while her familiar hovered closer to the blade hanging from her shoulder. "I'd like to rent a room please."
