It was empty… oof, and his mouth stung a bit… ah, was he in trouble…? O-Oh, hang on…
It felt like Mairwen’s head only cleared after his second drink, blinking in confusion – there was just a gap in time to him… ah, hang on, ‘girls’? Now, he couldn’t… well, maybe that was okay just this once. He didn’t really feel like arguing, and… it wasn’t so bad, right? Just a friendly game, so… that was okay. Err, though, if he won… that might be a bad reputation… wait, wouldn’t winning a drinking competition be a really bad look to begin with?! Glancing from side to side, Mairwen checked his competition – awawawa, the knight and the ogre were out cold?! No, he’d changed his mind now – this would be a story worthy of a bard, at the very least! ”H-Hang on… hang on, hang on… I’m a boy, okay…?” mumbled Mairwen; probably not very audible over the crowd – but, he had to try…
Shaking in his in an effort to clear his mind a bit more only made matters worse, as the cat winced in pain – but, it seemed to help all the same. So, that’d been two rounds… only two? Wait, he had barely noticed a second! This was not going so well; maybe he looked a mess! Clearing his throat, Mairwen did all he could to regain his composure; straightening his back, checking his clothes, looking around properly… okay, he ought to look a bit better now! Still, was he doing something wrong here…? It was his first time drinking, while the pair of probable heroes were already a mess… err, but, he didn’t feel like he was in any shape to complain.
Suddenly, memories clicked back into his head, and he immediately turned to his side – the poor girl! ”H-Hang on, Miss Marigold! You don’t look well…!” squeaked the boy, his emotions getting the better of him as he grasped her hand in an attempt to keep her attention. ”The other two… they’re already… l-look, if it’s too much, you should…” Unfortunately, Mairwen’s mind caught up to his heart – girl! He was holding a girl! Stop! Let go! Get away! Jolting back like he’d been accused of something, Mairwen immediately let go of his drinking partner. Agh, but he couldn’t even focus on being upset like this… it was making his head ring all over again!
